The DT Alpine III is the spoke with the lowest weight-to-strength ratio. This is achieved through a sophisticated manufacturing process. Starting with a 2.34 mm spoke, the diameter is cold-forged to 2 mm at the thread and a mere 1.8 mm in the middle section. This results in a maximum weight saving of 173 g compared to spokes with a constant diameter. Despite the lightweight middle section, the DT Alpine III maintains maximum strength and reliability. The ideal application is with highly stressed wheels, such as tandems or e-bikes.
